Champion Park Austin TX Features -Trails - Picnicking - Playgrounds


Champion Park offers large covered picnic pavilions with built-in BBQ grills that can be reserved for a fee.

There are public restrooms with drinking fountains that include your pets.

Discovery Dinosaur Sandpit play area

This park has a covered play area with fake dinosaur bones hidden in the sand box, sand toys, shovels and buckets are provided by the park to allow for great fun for children of all ages. The shaded canopy protects the children from the hot sand and sun.

The Discovery Sandpit play area was inspired by the discovery of the Mosasaurus Maximus fossil in 1934 by two University of Texas Students along Onion Creek. The reproduction of the fossil is cast from the original fossil. The reconstructed skeleton is located and on display at the Texas Memorial Museum.

Splash Park

There is a splash park with a fountain shaped like a blue whale that children can run through to cool off and rinse the sand off. The splash park is open 10 am to 7pm from May to September.

Dinosaur rock climbing

Fun shaped dinosaur rock and boulders for rock climbing. (Be careful these rocks can be hot during those hot summer days).

The walking trails, include markers for the nature lovers

These markers have informative information about the native plant life such as the Roughleaf Dogwood, or the Cedar Elm just to name a few. The markers are sponsored by the Williamson County Native Plant Society of Texas.

This trail is part of the Regional Trail and many families enjoy the walking, running and biking on this trail.

You can fish in the creek, fly a kite in the large open fields, play in the sand, run or bike on the trail, and walk the dogs, BBQ, picnic and much more. This is great place for all family members to enjoy.

Champion Park was named after the Champion Family, whose family cemetery and historical marker can be found. John (Jack) Champion originally from South Carolina moved to Texas in 1850. In 1854 he purchased over 200 acres on Brushy Creek. He served in the Civil war and as county sheriff.

Champion Park is a 33 Acre Park

Champion Park is a 33 acre park near the Avery Ranch subdivision. Avery Ranch Subdivision is a Master Planned Community located in North Austin TX Near Cedar Park TX. There are bridges that allow easy access to the park from Avery Ranch, and follows along the Brushy Creek Regional Trail. You can enjoy nature, history and community along Brushy Creek Regional Trail. The trail follows along Brushy Creek from east of Great Oaks Drive, west to US 183 in Cedar Park.
