About Lampasas
This video shows you all the great reasons to make this wonderful Lampasas community yours. Annual county activities remind us how it takes a village to raise a family. There are always things to do on the Historic Lampasas Square. Bloom Fest, Spring Ho, City Wide Garage Sale and more.
Lampasas County was established in 1856 and covers over 714 square miles deep in the heart of Texas. It was named after the Lampasas river (Spanish for Lilies). The seventy-five mile river begins in the City of Hamilton and travels southeast to Stillhouse Hollow Lake Reservoir.
The Colorado river borders the west boundaries of Lampasas county and the Colorado Bend State park is a popular location for camping, hiking, fishing and hunting.
In the 1850's people were drawn to Lampasas to bathe in the mineral springs. Today tourists are attracted to the area for the lakes, parks, Texas wineries, festivals, and wild game hunting.
The City of Lampasas is centrally located with three major highways. U.S. Highway 183, U.S. Highway 190, and U.S. Hwy 281.

If you love a great sandwich then you will enjoy the Sweet Pickle Deli in Lampasas Texas. Their home made chicken salad is a favorite among the locals and is full of simple delicious ingredients--served on your choice of wheat or rye bread.
My personal favorite is their Potato Salad, filled with "Top Secret" mouth watering ingredients. You have to beat the lunch crowd in order to get your share before they sell out.
Be sure to add The Sweet Pickle Deli to your list of lunch time favorites.

Ahhh, this brings back memories! I grew up in Killeen and we went to Spring Ho every year, as well as drove out to Lampasas to eat at Lisa's when it was still open. Lampasas is a jewel, one of the fast-dying breed of small, charming Texas towns. I live north of Dallas now, so don't get to visit as often as I'd like, but I love the area so much, from Lampasas to Burnet to Marble Falls. That's the heart of Texas!
