Winter Snow scene and Ice Photos in Austin Texas Hill Country Pictures

Winter snow scenes in Central Texas are rare events and only last for one day. When I saw the snow falling, I quickly grabbed my Nikon Coolpix P90 digital camera and headed out towards the field. My dog reluctantly but loyally follows me through what ever adventure I am on. (photo taken February 2010).

I am a freelance photographer, and have been taking photos for several years. I recently purchased a Nikon Coolpix P90 with 12.1 Mega pixels and 24x Wide Zoom. I love the fact that I can set the camera to “scene” mode. From the menu I selected Beach/snow. In this mode the camera will auto focus; set the aperture, white balance, and ISO speeds. This allows me to capture photos without having to worry about all the functions. I can just point and shoot before the moment has passed by. I believe that a good photographer has to be able to see the details that to most would go unnoticed. With the Nikon Coolpix P90, I can do just that!

On the ranch where I live there is a spring fed creek, known as Perryman Creek, and I knew I was going to find some exciting surreal winter snow fall photos to share with my friends and family.

Yes, snow is fun and exciting in Texas, and I know it is nothing new to the northern states. I have an Aunt that lives in Canada, and she is always making fun of us because we break out the heavy “down” filled coats when our temperatures drop below 40 degrees. So let me indulge myself in my childish wonderment of a few inches of snow that last for a day and then disappears like we crossed over into some imaginary parallel world.

In the photo above you will see Perryman Creek with snow covered tree limbs draping over the water. Let your imagination carry you on a canoe down the stream to see what is on the other side.

Remember to let the child in you see the world and all the beauty it has to offer. Too often we are so caught up in our hectic life styles that we forget to stop—breathe, and look around.
